This is an extraordinary collection of traditional Irish Jigs, Scottish Reels and French Canadian tunes. With Irish Flute, Accordion, Fiddle, Cello, Guitar and the Bodhran the CD is covered well instrumentally.
Les Lapins, "Aaaa c'est fort en tabrouette ca". Roughly translated, I loved this tune. This is a real kitchen party complete with the clacking sound of the spoons, Appropriately, this song sounds like it was recorded in the kitchen. The ambient sound of the kitchen is captured very well on "les cuillere" (the spoons) track. The song features one of the stars of this group, and there are many on this CD, the young cellist Emma Beaton. Her energetic performance on Les Lapins is a highlight of the album.
On the next track, Gaelic Air, the guitar playing of Jayne Lapper punctuates the lamenting sounds of the fiddle and cello so beautifully.
