This is Roots music at its best with songs about small town life, work, and the striving of ordinary people. Vancouver Island recording artist Doug Folkins wrote all six songs on this new CD, his fourth CD release to date.
There is good continuity in the sound throughout the album. Dobro aficionado Ken Hamm provided chiming bluesy guitar solos throughout the CD while Doug Folkins lays down a solid acoustic guitar performance.
Sawdust Left Behind is my favorite song on the CD, about the West Coast lumber industry. The song shares the perspective of the lumber worker and the environmentalist.
Tangerine Any roots album would not be complete without a song about cars, dogs and heartbreak.
Gasoline and Sparks is a truckin' song, about a long haul trucker, reflecting on his life on the road.
